SUMMARY:May Intentions: A One-Month Vision Board
DESCRIPTION:Join for a special end-of-month session where our usual Craft & Conversation transforms into a Vision Board Night. This month we’re visioning what May will bring! This series is a monthly reset where we focus on what we want to call in for the month ahead using a collage\, with short-term goals and intentions. It’s a gentle\, manageable version of vision boarding\, held on the last Monday of each month so we can welcome the new month with clarity. We’ll collage our goals using a variety of materials like magazines\, quotes\, scrapbooking supplies and stickers so you can bring your vision to life. You don’t need to bring anything\, but you’re welcome to bring your own items or even bring an unfinished vision board if you’d like.Limited to 8 people.

SUMMARY:Art Journalling Series with Bella - FULL
DESCRIPTION:Join Bella and Jessica as we explore the practice of art journalling. Bella brings a wealth of experience using all kinds of materials\, tools and practices to creatively process her experience through art journalling. Art Journalling invites us to get to explore\, get messy and trust the process. \n\n\n\nThis is a bi-weekly group running for the following dates: January 28th\, February 11th\, February 25th\, March 11th\, April 1st and April 15th. There will be a closing session on April 25th from 1:00-3:30pm. \n\n\n\nOverviewLife is a beautiful and complicated experience and sometimes it can be hard to process it all. Art journaling is one tool we can use to express and unravel the layered inner world we all have. There is a story you are telling yourself as you go through life\, woven from past experiences and internal voices. This can change how you perceive yourself\, the choices you make and even the person you may believe you are. You are the one writing your story and you have the power to re-write it. It starts with hearing yourself\, making space and time to listen. \n\n\n\nThrough the process of creating and playing in an art journal\, I believe you can begin that journey. You can travel the depths of your own self to become your own home\, to find radical belonging and love for all the versions of yourself and expand your everyday experiences. \n\n\n\nYou can only hear yourself if you’re listening. Resources and MaterialsNotebook for writing \n\n\n\nOptional ready made art journal or blank mixed media/ watercolour paper pad to create your own handmade concertina art journal. Any favourite art supplies. \n\n\n\nExamples: \n\n\n\nStrathmore mixed media bound book or Canson XL watercolour pad \n\n\n\nIf you need to work with a budget option (dollar tree) or have something you already own I can show you techniques to deal with thinner papers or how to deal with a notebook bursting at the seams. If you know a specific theme or topic you would like to focus on during the course\, you can come with a brainstorm or come with an open heart to hear what you’re subconsciously holding inside. \n\n\n\nWeekly Objectives \n\n\n\nSession one: Introduction & What Is Your Story? \n\n\n\nBackground building\, choosing our containers\, movement play\, collage for listening \n\n\n\nSession Two: Your mythology \n\n\n\nChoose personal images to create symbolism and secret meanings in your art. Build a library of words and phrases to help guide you and create found poems. Use your intuition to hear yourself and see what meanings emerge. \n\n\n\nSession Three: Inner landscapes\, outer dreamscapes. \n\n\n\nUsing collage to tell stories and mixed media tools to transform it. Constructing a concertina book. \n\n\n\nSession Four: Home: How is the Weather Inside of You? Journaling prompts and inspiring quotes that help you think differently and allow yourself to wander your inner world. Create hidden journaling homes for your writing\, safe spaces for all of you. \n\n\n\nSession Five: You have layers \n\n\n\nThe power of process. Confront negative thinking with wild playfulness. Talk back to your fears by building the language you need in your every day life. Uncover your mask and use it for taking back your power. \n\n\n\nSession Six: Windows\, doors\, mirrors and portals.Sometimes we need to destroy and excavate and move to get the transforming power of art. Learn ways to make your art journal interactive. \n\n\n\nSession Seven: Tying it all together. \n\n\n\nIf you chose to build a book we will explore covers and closures for our books. Learn how to slow stitch (even if you’ve never sewed or don’t usually like it!) a sari tie. We will add details and return to past pages. Reflecting and looking back over our work to discover the beauty you already had within all this time. Tips for preserving your work. Possible ways to expand your books after the session to keep going on your art journaling journey.

DESCRIPTION:These collegial meet-ups are for those who want to network and create community\, share resources and techniques\, attend to self-care and play\, and offer peer consultation.  \n\n\n\nHosted by Laurie Larkin-Boyle\, Registered Clinical Counsellor & Art Therapist https://www.larkinboyletherapy.com/\, and Janet Walker\, Registered Clinical Counsellor\, Certified Expressive Arts Therapist\, & BC Registered Play Therapist  http://janetwalker.ca/ .What: Munch and Mingle Meet-up for Expressive Arts Therapists\, Creative Arts Therapists\, and therapist from all theoretical orientations \n\n\n\nWhy: Resource-sharing\, community building\, and self-care for therapists  \n\n\n\nWhen: Monday\, April 13th\, 12-2 pm \n\n\n\nWhere: My Inner Harbour\, 149 Wallace Street \n\n\n\nHow much: FreeWelcome: •Expressive Arts Therapists (intermodal approach)•Creative Arts Therapists (art therapists\, drama therapists\, music therapists\, dance therapists\, poetry therapists)•Sand Tray Therapists\, Sand Play Therapists•Play Therapists•Somatic Therapists•And anyone who is interested in arts-based\, creative\, somatic approaches to therapy. \n\n\n\nTheme: Carl Jung’s Red Book  \n\n\n\nGuest: Lynette Walker\, RCC \n\n\n\nArt: Mandalas \n\n\n\nLynette Walker is a Jungian-focused psychoanalyst who was an RCC in private practice for 40 years. She will share her copy of Jung’s Red Book and will facilitate a discussion about Carl Gustav Jung\, his life\, work\, and philosophy.   \n\n\n\nCarl Jung’s Red Book is a very large\, leather-bound volume filled with archetypal painted images and written out by hand in calligraphy\, describing Jung’s own explorations of his deep unconscious.  \n\n\n\nLynette’s parents were both trained Jungian Psychoanalysts who were also in private practice for 40 years each. They studied and underwent psychoanalysis at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles and with Jung and his colleagues in Zürich\, Switzerland. They were founders of the San Diego Friends of Jung in San Diego\, where they hosted lectures and study groups for decades.  \n\n\n\nIn addition\, Lynette\, Laurie and Janet have been participating in a 12-week lecture series on the Carl Jung’s Red Book since the beginning of the year.  Also\, Janet just completed Module 2 of a Jungian/Kalffian Sandplay Therapy training (“Understanding the Mother Archetype and the Feminine”).  Lynette worked with a Jungian/Kalffian approach to Sandplay for decades during her career.  Elements of the Red Book lectures and/or Jungian Sandplay Therapy may be woven in to our discussion.  \n\n\n\nSince Jung was fascinated with mandalas\, the expressive arts portion of this Munch and Mingle will be painting mandala stones. If you can find a smooth\, round river rock\, or several such rocks\, bring them along. (Small like a quarter\, up to the size of the palm of your hand. A smooth surface is preferable.) This is a meditative art activity that can be incorporated into client sessions with children\, youth\, or adults.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n_________________________________________________________ \n\n\n\nFurther Jung-related Information:  \n\n\n\nCarl Jung’s Red Book \n\n\n\ndescription on Wikipedia \n\n\n\nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Book_(Jung) \n\n\n\nCAST/ISST Jungian and Kalffian Sandplay Therapy: Training Modules \n\n\n\nCanadian Association for Sandplay Therapy (CAST)  \n\n\n\nInternational Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST) \n\n\n\nUpcoming Sandplay Therapy Trainings. \n\n\n\nIn-Person Trainings on Vancouver Island (near Duncan\, BC) \n\n\n\nJuly 18th\, 19th\, 20th (Saturday\, Sunday\, Monday) – Father Archetype and the Masculine  \n\n\n\nAnd \n\n\n\nAugust 23rd & 24th (Sunday\, Monday) – Liminal Space and Mandalas \n\n\n\nHearth Place (https://www.hearthplace.ca) \n\n\n\nMore information in the attached poster.  Registration available soon on the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy (CAST) website: https://sandplaycanada.ca \n\n\n\nCAST/ISST Jungian and Kalffian Sandplay Therapy:  Special Event \n\n\n\nSpecial one-day workshop/presentation with three respected trainers and teachers\, coming together on Saturday August 22nd at the Metchosin Arts & Cultural Centre (near Victoria\, BC)  \n\n\n\nMore info will be available on the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy (CAST) website once details are confirmed. https://sandplaycanada.ca \n\n\n\n“Forever Jung: C.G.

SUMMARY:April Intentions: A One-Month Vision Board
DESCRIPTION:Join for a special end-of-month session where our usual Craft & Conversation transforms into a Vision Board Night. This month we’re visioning what April will bring! You don’t need to bring anything\, but you’re welcome to bring your own items or even bring an unfinished vision board if you’d like.Facilitated by: Savanna. Limited to 8 people.
