What is Art Journalling?
Life is a beautiful and complicated experience and sometimes it can be hard to process it all. Art journaling is one tool we can use to express and unravel the layered inner world we all have. There is a story you are telling yourself as you go through life, woven from past experiences and internal voices. This can change how you perceive yourself, the choices you make and even the person you may believe you are. You are the one writing your story and you have the power to re-write it. It starts with hearing yourself, making space and time to listen.

Through the process of creating and playing in an art journal, I believe you can begin that journey. You can travel the depths of your own self to become your own home, to find radical belonging and love for all the versions of yourself and expand your everyday experiences.

You can only hear yourself if you’re listening.

Resources and Materials

Notebook for writing

Optional ready made art journal or blank mixed media/ watercolour paper pad to create your own handmade concertina art journal. Any favourite art supplies.

Examples:

Strathmore mixed media bound book or Canson XL watercolour pad

If you need to work with a budget option (dollar tree) or have something you already own I can show you techniques to deal with thinner papers or how to deal with a notebook bursting at the seams. If you know a specific theme or topic you would like to focus on during the course, you can come with a brainstorm or come with an open heart to hear what you’re subconsciously holding inside.
