Lament & Protest
December 14 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
To lament is to express sorrow, mourning or regret often aloud or in a demonstrative way. To protest is to express disapproval or object strongly, often to a specific idea or course of action. In a world of toxic positivity and grief illiteracy we often don’t have anywhere to mourn collectively and bear witness to each other. Especially during the holiday season.
Using a variety of art mediums, poetry and journalling prompts, join Jessica for an evening of communal lament and protest. We’ll spend time individually engaging in whatever mediums feel best and then coming together to debrief.
Real self-care involves being honest about where we’re experiencing grief and being proactive about caring for our despair/hopelessness/overwhelm/anger/fear/etc. Whether it’s a personal loss, holiday season heaviness, pain we witness in our own community or the ongoing tragedies around the world, our grief wants to be acknowledged and expressed.
If you need a night to sit with the grief and feel less alone with whatever you’re carrying this is for you.
