Shift: Changing Thought Patterns Through Movement and Creative Expression

This experiential workshop invites you to explore how mindful movement and creative expression can shift limiting thought patterns and open space for new ways of being. Guided by expressive arts therapist Janet Walker, with support from art therapist Laurie Larkin-Boyle, the session blends guided movement with reflective art-making to help reconnect body and mind. No dance or art experience is needed. The focus is on presence, curiosity, and inner awareness—not performance or product. Together, we’ll explore how embodied practices can loosen mental habits, regulate the nervous system, and support personal growth.

Bring your own writing notebook or art sketchbook if you have one. All materials are provided. Wear comfortable clothes, bring an open mind, and leave with practical tools for everyday life.

Have questions? Please contact Laurie Larkin-Boyle for further information.

Step into a relaxed space to unwind after work!

Shake off the day with laughter yoga and board games. Group activity starts at 6:15pm.

You’ve probably heard of the phrase, “Laughter is the best medicine.” But did you know there’s research to back it up?

There’s evidence that laughter helps to:

    • Relieve stress
    • Oxygenate your body
    • Build heart health
    • Boost your immunity
    • Promote emotional balance
    • Relieve pain naturally
    • Help you look and feel younger
    • Promote connection and creativity

Come give laughter yoga a try! (No experience and no equipment needed.)

We’ll also have board game stations throughout the space so you’ll have plenty of ways to unwind. If you have a favourite game, please bring it and share the fun!

This session will be facilitated by Crystal Lee, a certified laughter yoga lead who has been promoting laughter in the community for 10 years. Crystal is also a holistic career coach, writer, and workshop leader.

Please register on eventbrite! Free for members of My Inner Harbour, $10 for non-members. There is also an option to pay what you want at the door.

    Clothing Swap & Community Social

A collaboration by My Inner Harbour x Relocal

    Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025, 1–4 PM
Location: My Inner Harbour (149 Wallace St)

Clear your closet, refresh your wardrobe, and connect with community! Join us for a fun afternoon of swapping gently used clothing, accessories, and good vibes. Bring items you no longer wear and leave with new-to-you treasures.

All genders, sizes, and seasonal garments are welcome.

    Here’s how it works:

1-2 PM: Set-up - Drop off your clean, gently used items (clothing, shoes, accessories) and receive tokens for the clothing swap.

2-3 PM: Clothing Swap - Browse the swap and “shop” with your tokens. Please bring your own bag to carry items home.

3-4 PM: Open Shop - Anything remaining will be available to the public.

    FAQs

What items can I bring to the swap? The primary audience of this swap will be women. However, all clothing for men, women, and children will be accepted. Also welcome are accessories like belts, hats, scarves, jewellery, purses, wallets, shoes, and socks.

What condition should the items be in? Items should be clean, gently used, and with no visible damage.

Can I participate if I don’t have items to swap? Yes! Come join the Open Shop from 3-4 PM. We would appreciate a cash donation (suggestion of $10-$20) which will go to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island.

What can I do while I wait for the swap to start? Explore the many activities at My Inner Harbour, like art making, journaling, card decks, puzzles, board games, and more!

What are the tokens for? You’ll get a token for each item you bring to the swap, up to a maximum of 10 tokens. From 2-3 PM, token holders will be the first to browse the swap. Each token gets you one swap item.

How does the Open Shop work? From 3-4 PM, anyone may select items from the swap. No tokens are required, although a cash donation is appreciated.

What happens to leftover items? After 4 PM, leftover items will be donated to the recycling program operated by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island to help fund mentoring programs.

How else can I support this clothing swap? We would appreciate the loan of clothing racks and hangers to support this event. Please get in touch with myinnerharbour@gmail.com to coordinate a drop-off.
